Megan Swanson, MD | Orthopedic Surgeon & Owner
Following her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, Dr. Swanson earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN in 2004. She completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center / Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX.

Traci Mahoney | Physician Assistant
Originally from upstate New York, Traci graduated from Le Moyne College with a master degree in physician assistant studies. She relocated to Charlottesville in 2018 from the New York City area, where she first started working in orthopedics. Traci takes pride in putting the patient’s needs first, and is dedicated to learning about advancements in treatments and procedures. When she is not working, Traci likes to spend time with her husband and their three daughters and dog, as well as anything sports related.
Jessica LeMere | Physician Assistant
Originally from Connecticut, Jess completed physician assistant school in Charleston, SC and graduated with her Masters from Charleston Southern University. She enjoys interacting with patients and being part of their health journey. When she’s not working, you might find her hiking with her dog and enjoying the outdoors!
Nathan Swanson | Practice Manager
Since 2000, Nathan has worked for a mix of startups and consulting firms. Prior to launching Thunder Orthopedics with his wife, Dr. Megan Swanson, he co-founded and ran a recruiting consulting firm.
When he is not working or taking care of the family, he enjoys composing music on the piano and playing board games.
Ginnie Peck | Radiologic Technologist & Surgery Coordinator
Ginnie has worked in the field of Orthopedic Surgery for nearly 26 years in roles ranging from athletic training and orthopedic technician to office manager, radiologic technologist, and surgical coordinator.
LaCresha Jackson | Certified Medical Assistant
LaCresha is a Charlottesville native, graduating from Charlottesville High School and then being awarded the 2009 Martha Jefferson CNA Scholarship. And later, she earned her certified medical assistant certificate. She has worked with Dr. Swanson since 2014 and she is the friendly face who greets our patients in the clinic and takes their vital signs and helps them with braces and other questions.
Gracie Shifflett | Medical Receptionist
Gracie was born and raised locally in Charlottesville, VA. She recently graduated from James Madison University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. When she isn’t working at the front desk, Gracie enjoys attending concerts, playing softball, and spending time with family and friends.
