Anterior “Bikini Incision” Hip Replacement
An anterior hip replacement (direct anterior) is performed by going through the front of the hip. In general, this type of approach to a hip replacement reduces risk of muscle disruption and can lead to quicker recovery. The “Bikini incision” is an incision that follows the natural curvature of the body and is close to the groin. The nature of this type of incision leads to accelerated healing, minimal scarring, and is easy to conceal.

The Thunder Knee Replacement
The Thunder Knee is used to describe the type of knee replacement we perform here at Thunder Orthopedics that is aimed to get you out of pain and back doing what you enjoy. The Thunder Knee involves three major components, which when combined may lead to less post-surgical pain and an accelerated recovery:
1) Muscle sparing approach, aka the “subvastus” approach.
2) Tourniquet-less
3) Use of robotic Technology (Mako Smart Robotics) for both Total and Partial Knee Replacement
Partial Knee Replacement
Partial knee replacement is a surgical procedure that is recommended for patients who have arthritis affecting only one compartment of the knee joint and does not involve resurfacing the entire knee joint. Our Partial Knee Replacements are minimally invasive, tourniquet-less, and are performed using Mako technology. It is important to discuss with the surgeon if this is the right procedure for you.

Non-surgical
Laser (photo biomodulation) therapy
Laser therapy is a type of non-invasive treatment that utilizes focused red and infrared light, which works to promote healing and reduce pain. It has a wide array of clinical applications, including (but not limited to) sports injuries, fractures, post-operative healing, wound healing, and chronic pain. It is painless and there is no downtime following treatment.
Sports injury evaluations
We understand how important it is to receive urgent comprehensive care following a sports related injury. Here at our clinic we will conduct a thorough physical exam, obtain x-rays (and additional imaging if indicated), and create a personalized treatment and rehabilitation plan to optimize healing and accelerate your return to play.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections is a type of injection that uses highly concentrated platelets derived from a patient’s own blood. Platelets are an essential part of the healing process, as they release growth factors that promote tissue healing and regeneration. Its indications include arthritis as well as cartilage or other soft tissue injury and has shown to accelerate recovery. The procedure is done at our office and has minimal downtime.
Cortisone injections
A Cortisone injection (aka steroid injection) is a type of injection that is used for localized temporary pain relief. It is commonly used in joints and soft tissues. It is performed in our clinic and there is little down time following the injection.
Exercise plans & Physical therapy referrals
Depending on the nature of your pain or injury, having a dedicated exercise plan may be recommended. We have various resources and physical therapists whom we closely work with to help you reach your goals. Depending on your area of concern, a structured exercise plan and/or physical therapy regimen can help to improve strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, gait, and reduce pain.
Custom bracing
Our office offers a wide array of bracing and splinting options. If indicated after an evaluation in our clinic, we can recommend and fit the appropriate brace specific to your area of concern. If you are having knee troubles and our knee braces do not suit you, our office has partnered with Icarus Medical to provide a custom fitted knee brace. This involves a simple digital scan at our office.
